Pride London Appeals for Ambassadors

The organisers of the UK's largest Pride event want to hear your experiences.

Pride London was attended by more than 800,000 people on July 5th last year. The parade was led by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. The event dates back to the 1970s, when it was a more explicitly political event.

Pride London organisers want people whose lives have been changed by Pride events to act as ambassadors for Pride London 2009.

"We would love to hear from those who took part in Pride prior to the decriminalisation of homosexuality," Pride organisers said. "Maybe your first Pride London Parade helped you to realise it was OK to be gay, perhaps you and your partner met at Pride?

"Whatever your story we are looking for volunteers to be involved in some of our media work leading up to Pride '09 and we would love to hear from you."

Anyone who would like to take part should visit www.pridelondon.org

London is to host World Pride in 2012, just weeks before the city's Olympic Games.
